The Pacific Cancer Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2005 by a group of concerned health care professionals and cancer survivors. The Foundation focuses on providing free support services for Maui's cancer community.
The Pacific Cancer Foundation services include but are not limited to:
Patient Navigation Program- If you or a loved one has cancer, please know you do not need to voyage on your cancer journey alone. Our Pacific Cancer Foundation Cancer Patient Navigator, Shari Osajima, would be honored to accompany and guide you.
As a highly trained and experienced health care professional, our patient navigator can provide individualized support and guidance to patients and families like yours. Regardless of whether or not you have insurance or what type of coverage you have, where you are receiving or have received treatment, our navigator is available to work with you.
Patient Navigators are trained and certified to help find resources and services for oncology patients and their loved ones. The navigator plays a pivotal role with facilitating communication between healthcare providers and the patient, even going to scheduled appointments with the patient, if needed. The healthcare provider often does not have the opportunity to discuss additional support and thus, the navigator is available to help with medications, co-pays, transportation, wellness activities, nutritional support, insurance barriers and other aspects, to coordinate services for patients.
The Healthcare team is made up of a variety of physicians, nurses and support workers who provide care and information to patients and families. The navigator, as part of the healthcare team, can utilize resources and contacts to make the cancer journey less stressful and confusing.
Please call (808) 243-2999 to schedule an appointment. All navigation services are complimentary.
Nutritional Support Program- The Nutritional Support program provides our cancer community support during and after treatment to help prevent or resolve nutritional deficiencies, achieve and maintain a healthy weight, preserve body mass and minimize nutrition related side effects.
Cancer Support Groups-The survivor groups are for those who have cancer- any type or stage, those just beginning their journey or years into it. The caregiver group is for those who are caring for loved ones with cancer, whether at home or far away. The kids group is for children whose parents are affected by this disease. In your group you will find others who truly understand where you are at this time and can hear what you have to say. You will find information, and renew your strength and hope. You are not alone in this journey! All group meetings are complimentary.
