On May 5, 2011, The Hawaii County Office of Aging proudly announced the selection of Wilfred Kealoha Sugiyama of Hawi, and Sylvia Abernathy of Holualoa as the Outstanding Older Americans for 2011. The annual awards luncheon was held at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel and attended by 300 energetic seniors. Mayor Billy Kenoi thanked the 20 nominees for making the Big Island a special place for all of us living today, and bringing inspiration and continuity to the fabric of our communities.
